Greetings, gamers!
As usual, our libraries got some of the best games this month!
Shadows Over Loathing (Rated T for Teen) is an interesting RPG done in a stick figure style (which has made me realize that, no, my artistic talents don’t even include stick figures because this game’s stick figures look WAY better than mine). It’s set in an alternate universe in what essentially translates to the 1920’s/Prohibition in our world. It even includes some swanky slang and plenty of humor. I have not played any of Asymmetric Publications’ previous games, so I have no basis of comparison, but this seems cool.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (Rated T for Teen) picks up where the 2020 release of Final Fantasy VII Remake left off and is the second installment of what is planned to be a three-part remake of the original Final Fantasy VII from 1997. Final Fantasy VII is one of the most iconic games in the franchise, so it will be a popular addition to the libraries for our patrons with a PlayStation 5.
Atari Mania (Rated E for Everyone) looks fun! In a very “Night at the Museum” type concept, you play as a guardian of the Atari Vault in which chaos ensues when a dead pixel appears. You then must play your way through a bunch of remixed classic games to restore order. It’s a premise that promises some entertainment and offers some nostalgia, albeit these old games will not be how you remembered…
WWE 2K24 (Rated T for Teen) came for the Xbox One and PS4. I’ve never been a wrestling gamer, but I’m interested in checking this out. It’s gotten some mixed reviews, but overall people think it’s about as good (if not better) than last year’s installment in the series.
PJ Masks Power Heroes: Mighty Alliance (Rated E for Everyone) is, of course, based off the series PJ Masks. The game lets players team up with the heroes through a variety of levels (platforming and racing levels are two of the types featured) to find and restore scattered gems and technology to repair their damaged headquarters. Fun and bound to be entertaining for families and younger gamers.
Just as a reminder for those of you interested in checking out our new games- you must have a Willoughby-Eastlake Library card and have had it for at least 30 days. The new games are 14 day loans and are NOT renewable. Also, with our new games you can only have 2 at a time checked out on your card. Our not as new games (which are holdable and renewable) you can have more of- if you’re not over your 50-item limit!
Until the next level,
Miss Bryn
