Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library to Close Saturday, March 14, 2020
Out of concern for the well-being of our staff, our patrons, and our communities during the coronavirus pandemic, the Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library has made the decision to close all library locations (the Eastlake Library, the Willoughby Library, the Willoughby Hills Library, the Willowick Library, and our administrative offices) beginning at 5:00 pm on Saturday, March 14, 2020. Many public libraries across Northeast Ohio and the State of Ohio have also made decisions to close during this public health emergency.
The Library Board will hold its regular meeting on Monday, March 16, 2020. The Board will consider the closure plan, including the determination of a date for re-opening.
Even though the libraries will be closed, resources are available online 24/7. There are many digital resources that can be accessed with a Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library card from home. These digital services include but are not limited to: Overdrive (eBooks and audiobooks), Hoopla (movies, music, audiobooks and graphic novels) and Kanopy (documentaries, classics and Indie films). Children’s resources include Tumblebooks, Sesame Street eBooks and ABC Mouse.
For the duration of the closure, due dates for checked-out materials (including wifi hot spots and tablets) and holds for materials will be extended to the date that the library reopens. There is no need to return any of those items during the period that the library is closed.
Additional information and resources can be found on the library’s website at we247.org.
