Have you seen our activities on our W-E Library YouTube channel? Can you tell we miss you?!

In ordinary times, library staff depend upon our daily interaction with the community to feel purposeful. Since our buildings are closed during this “Stay at Home” time, our staff have worked remotely and innovatively to remain meaningful and helpful to our community. It has caused us to think deeper about what our library collection is, and how it is used. We are continually working to expand our library collection beyond our tangible books, music and movies.  We know you miss coming inside the building to access our collection. But we have a HUGE DIGITAL collection of materials and activities! Explore our digital collection options available to you from home: https://we247.org/fromhome/

  • Do you want to read newspapers, including the News Herald, digitally? For the next two months, it is FREE using your WEPL library card. Learn how here: https://we247.org/news-herald-with-your-library-card/
  • Missing the chance to browse our new shelf? Browse our digital NEW BOOKSHELF and then check out your favorites as ebook or eaudio on OverDrive or in the Libby app.
  • Wish you could join in a book discussion? Our building groups are suspended, but we are having a Virtual Book Discussion of The Mountains Sing at the end of the month. Check out the book today on hoopla and join us on April 29 at 7 pm online to chat. Register for the program and you will be sent the link to attend.
  • Are movies more your thing? We’ve got two online movie discussions coming up! This week on Thursday, April 16 at 8:30 pm will be a chat about Color Out of Space (available to watch on hoopla) and next week on Thursday, April 23 at 8:30 pm will be a discussion of The Bookshop (available on Kanopy). Check them out and register for the program. You will be sent the link to attend.
  • What you really want right now are just some book recommendations from me. I know some of you are digital pros and prefer reading ebooks/eaudio even in normal times. Well, so far this month here are new releases by favorite fiction authors: Redhead by the Side of the Road by Anne Tyler, The Book of Lost Friends by Lisa Wingate and One Fatal Flaw by Anne Perry. Don’t be dismayed by a hold list. I am watching our patron holds daily and buying additional digital copies weekly so you don’t have to wait too long. Look for Simon the Fidler by Paulette Jiles and The Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd later this month (I can’t link to these in OverDrive yet, since they have not been published).
If you have questions about the information I have shared here, or any question for Willoughby-Eastlake library staff, you can reach us by emailing [email protected]. We will respond the same day or by the next business day. Hope to see you soon!
