    WEPL Launches W-E 3 Card http://we247.org/new-w-e-3-card/ Fri, 10 Jun 2016 17:29:24 +0000 http://we247.org/?p=5459 Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library Launches W-E 3 Card

    WE3 Card Image

The Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library recently launched the W-E 3 Library Card program at all four library locations in Eastlake, Willoughby, Willoughby Hills and Willowick. The W-E 3 card is a library card designed for children who are visiting the library without a parent or guardian but would like to take home books. Children under the age of 17 may now check out up to 3 books, e-books and use library digital resources without a parent or guardian present. Children must be able to sign their name on the back of the library card.

Additional benefits of the W-E 3 card include giving children the opportunity to borrow books if their parent’s library card is blocked due to fines or lost items. The Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library believes that all children should have access to books and digital resources to build and enhance their reading skills.

New CLEVNET Catalog Now Live http://we247.org/clevnet-catalog-coming-soon/ Wed, 18 May 2016 13:00:20 +0000 http://we247.org/?p=5324 New CLEVNET Catalog is Now Live!

CLEVNET catalogIn mid-June, the Clevnet library consortium will be transitioning to a new public catalog. The new catalog has a different look and feel than our existing online catalog, Bibliocommons. Library users will still be able to place holds on items from home.

The new CLEVNET catalog is easy to use. The catalog includes some built in features that allow library users to discover digital content offered through Hoopla & Overdrive alongside the physical collection of books & DVDs. Users will still be able to generate lists. Current lists will migrate to the new catalog. The social media features that are currently available in Bibliocommons WILL NOT migrate over to the new CLEVNET catalog. You will no longer be able to rate, review, or comment on titles. If you enjoy reviewing books, we recommend joining our Goodreads group.

Additionally, the Clevnet app will no longer be available. A new app, called BookMyne, will replace the Clevnet app. You can download BookMyne from the app store on your tablet or smartphone.

Training sessions on the new CLEVNET catalog is scheduled for the following date:

Please click on the date to register.

To learn more about the catalog, check out our Guide to Using the Library Catalog.

If you have any questions, please email wepl.contact@welibrary.info or talk to a library staff member.

Now Lending Mobile Hotspots http://we247.org/willoughby-eastlake-public-library-now-lending-mobile-hotspots/ Wed, 04 May 2016 14:13:43 +0000 http://we247.org/?p=5267 W-E Library Now Lending Mobile Hotspots!

WILLOWICK, OH: On May 3, 2016, The Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library began lending Mobile Hotspots to library patrons. A Mobile Hotspot is a portable device that provides Internet access through a variety of devices including laptops and tablets. Each of the four system libraries in Eastlake, Willoughby, Willoughby Hills and Willowick hold 5 Mobile Hotspots for checkout.

When asked why the library was now offering Mobile Hotspots, Melanie Wilson, Virtual Services Manager, stated that “The purpose of lending Mobile Hotspots is to improve and widen Internet access beyond the library, particularly for those library patrons who do not currently have Internet access in their home.” Up to 5 devices can be connected to a single Mobile Hotspot and may be used anywhere in the continental United States. Libraries are continuously searching for new ways to reinvent themselves and bring new technology to library patrons, no matter where they are. Lori Caszatt, Communications & Development Manager added that “Mobile Hotspots are also a great way for travelers to obtain Internet access on the go from anywhere they may be including conference centers, airports or the beach.”

Library patrons 18 years and older who wish to check out a Mobile Hotspot must have a library card, sign a Borrower Agreement and show a valid I.D. with current address. Mobile Hotspots may be checked out for 5 days. Due to high demand, Mobile Hotspots are first come, first serve and may not be placed on hold or renewed. Each Mobile Hotspot is checked out to library patrons with a User Guide, micro USB cable and charging cord.

Since its creation, educators, parents, caregivers and students have embraced Read Across America and helped to turn it into the largest reading celebration.

On March 2, Join us in our cozy book nook in the Penfield Room of the Willoughby Public Library. All day long there will be comfy seats and coffee! No registration required, just stop in! Any Questions call 440-942-3200.

We encourage EVERYONE to pick up a book and read to a child. So, whether it’s your favorite Dr. Seuss book or something new and exciting, we encourage you to: Grab your hat and read with the cat!For more information, please visit www.nea.org/readacross

    Statement of Qualifications Q &A

    1. Insurance requirements?

    • Please include in your submission evidence of professional liability insurance.

    2. How will the project be bid?

    • We hope to be able to draft a single bidding document that will cover all aspects of both the Willoughby Library and the Willowick Library projects.

    3. Does the A/E team need an environmental engineer on the team?

    • No.

    4. Do any of the existing designs require an addition to the building?

    • No.

    5. Does the team need a surveyor and geotechnical engineer?

    • No.

    6. Do you foresee structural engineering as part of the project?

    • No.

    7. Is a recommendation on furniture, fixtures, and equipment part of to be completed by the AE team?

    • We anticipate that the architect’s scope of service will include recommendations on furniture, fixtures, and equipment.

    8. Is programming done by the Architect/Engineer team?

    • We anticipate that the architect’s scope of service will include creating the floor plans and programming the space.

    9. Is the Willoughby Library designated as a historic landmark and therefore require a preservationist?

    • While the Willoughby Library does have historic landmark designation, it is our expectation that all the renovation work will be done inside the building and will have no effect or impact on the façade of the building.

    10. Does the team need security/technology or are those services provided by the Owner?

    • The Library has the ability to provide both reasonable security and technology. If the scope of the project exceeds the existing security and technology capacity, the Library can make appropriate arrangements.

    11. Is the Architect/Engineer team responsible for community engagement on design?

    • No. As part of the scope of service, the architect may be asked to make presentations to community organizations.

    12. Will the buildings be open during construction?

    • Yes. Except in the most extreme situation, provision will need to be made during construction for the two Libraries to continue to provide service to patrons.

    13. Will the construction be one single contract for two buildings or two contractors?

    • Because we hope to undertake both projects on roughly the same timeframe, it is our hope that we can achieve some economies of scale by employing a single general contractor.
